Sept 8 Public Sector Day of Action

In March 2011 the people of NSW voted for a change of government.

Barry O'Farrell told us we could trust him and the people of NSW took him at his word.

But since March 2011 and without any word prior to the election, the O'Farrell Government has:

  • Cut services
  • Cut jobs
  • Taken away our workplace rights
  • Cut our pay and conditions

NSW public sector workers now have the worst bargaining rights of any worker in Australia. This is unacceptable.

Now thousands face the sack and this will affect services across our state. This means more pressure on our hospitals, on our schools, on our trains and on our emergency and support services.

Barry O'Farrell claims there is a budget black hole, but his own treasury and credible economic analysts reject that there is any black hole. New governments coming into office and finding imaginary "black budget holes" so they can justify cuts is the oldest political trick in the book.

The hard working people who provide our services deserve better. NSW deserves better than Governments who want to play political games with our future.

Clearly the politicians are not listening so we need to send them a message. Now is the time to make a stand!

Let's rally and let all politicians know that we will fight for our rights at work and that we will fight for Better Services for a Better State.

For firefighters - we rally first at St Mary's Cathedral 11.00am - then the Sydney rally assemble in the Domain, 11:30am this Thursday, 8th September. More information here.
