Firies message board is back | Tweed News | Local News in Tweed | Daily News

PERSONAL messages on the Tweed Heads Fire Station noticeboard have made a welcome comeback.

In June of last year the messages were stopped by NSW Fire and Rescue zone commander Superintendent Chris Bond after members of the public claimed some of the messages contained references to local street gangs.

Last week Supt Bond said enough "water has passed under the bridge" to begin leasing the sign again.

"I said okay, let's resurrect it. Hopefully nothing goes wrong and derails it," Supt Bond said.

"The new idea is to get the message board going for both fire safety and personal messages.

"The guys will be keeping a good eye on the messages."

Proceeds from the lease of the noticeboard go to Kids in Tweed, a charity that buys medical equipment for seriously ill and disabled children in the Tweed.

The noticeboard has raised more than $4000 for the charity.
