Public servants' jobs 'safe', but union spends up on election ads | The Australian

PUBLIC sector union Together will spend $500,000 of members' money on advertising during the Queensland election campaign.

Together secretary Alex Scott yesterday said the union did not plan to endorse any party for the March 24 poll.

As a "third party" registered with the Queensland Electoral Commission, Together is restricted to spending no more than $500,000 on campaign advertising. "We'll probably spend up to the maximum allowed but it's unlikely we will use TV ads because they'll get drowned out," Mr Scott said. "We've got permanent issues, but not permanent friends in politics."

All parties have promised not to sack public servants. The LNP, Labor, The Greens and Bob Katter's The Australian Party have all told the union they do not support forced redundancies, in their written responses to the union's campaign wish-list.
